Value of Podcasts for Marketing
When
one ordinarily thinks of an advertisement, an extremely short video clip or
brief written message comes to mind. But in the market for high value products,
where the customer wants as much information as possible before making a
financial commitment, a type of advertisement that discusses the product or
service in depth is extremely beneficial.
Welcome
to podcasting! A podcast is formatted to be an episode part of a larger series
of videos or audios with a common theme. It may be hosted by one or several
individuals and feature guests for interviews and discussions.
Ken
Greene is a pioneer in podcasting as a platform for finance and marketing. He started
the Engineer of Finance Podcast with regular, weekly episodes that
listeners can tune into via Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Greene was so
successful in utilizing podcasting that Forbes magazine featured him in
an article pointing out that one of the clear advantages of podcasting, in his
experience, is being able to save time: “But he can’t do hundreds of one-on-one
consultations with prospective clients every week. Instead, the podcast allows
him to reach that many listeners—and more.”
Here
I want to present to the reader an example of business podcasting. Today there
is much speculation about a present or future housing crisis like the one which
led to the financial crisis in 2008. In a twenty six minute podcast, qualified
experts exposes the listeners to a new insight on the issue which would be
difficult to attain otherwise:
